One of the impactful projects is the distribution of prescription glasses in schools, as refractive errors can hinder vision but can be corrected with lenses.
During 2021, Eyes of the world visited 65 schools, including special education schools for children and adolescents with disabilities, in the three areas of intervention within the Bolivia project (Oruro, Tarija, and Chuquisaca). Students, teachers, fathers, mothers, and members of the communities were impacted. In these interventions, 3,978 people benefitted from prescription glasses (2,239 women and 1,739 men). Of this total, 1,718 were students, and 154 were people with special needs.
This activity is part of the Eyes of Bolivia programme, which is financed by the National Bank of Bolivia (BNB), Club de Leones, Repsol Foundation, CBM Global Disability Inclusion, Once Foundation – Latin America FOAL, AGORA Bolivia, Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation AECID, Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and Andoain City Council.
