The Eyes of the world Foundation’s Visions art collection was created in 2008 and already includes more than 90 works, including paintings, sculptures, graphics, photographs and video art, which some 60 renowned contemporary artists have donated in solidarity to the Foundation with the aim of raising awareness of the precarious ophthalmological situation of thousands of people in the world and raising funds to fight against avoidable blindness.
The latest works to be added to the collection in recent months are as follows:
- Santi Moix has donated two ceramic pieces to the Foundation: ‘Artefact’ (2023, 58 x 38 cm) and ‘Remains of a shipwreck’ (2023, 48 x 43 cm). The Barcelona-born artist likes to experiment with materials, and ceramic craftsmanship in porcelain allows him to give form to his creative visions.
- Jaume Plensa has donated the series ‘3 shades of Hortensia’ (2024, 34 x 17 x 8 cm). A limited edition of 20 sculptures made of painted stainless steel that show the evolution of the same woman, intercalating layers and playing with light and shadows.
It should also be recalled that the work that Antoni Tàpies donated to Eyes of the world, the poster ‘We Open the Eyes of the World’, can be seen at the Museum of the History of Catalonia until February 2025, in an exhibition that shows his attitude, always committed to different social, progressive and humanitarian causes. The Visions art fund has a limited edition of these lithographs, numbered and hand-signed by the artist.
The money raised from the sale of the works in this solidarity art fund goes entirely to the implementation of the different activities of prevention, treatment and training on eye health of Eyes of the world.
