3 July 1972, Mendoza (Argentina). Hernán E. Gras graduated in Medicine from the National University of Cuyo in 1998. He specialised in ophthalmology in 2001, after a three-year internship at the Hospital Central José in San Martín. He took a master’s degree in ophthalmology at the Catholic University of Salta (2002-2004) and another master’s degree in vitreoretinal studies at Barcelona’s Institute of Ocular Microsurgery -IMO- (2004-2005), validated by the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
He started his career at the Hospital Central José in San Martín, where he worked in the cornea department after completing his internship. He was also a member of the cornea transplant team at the Coordinator Institute for Excisions and Implants in Mendoza (INCAIMEN). He was an anterior segment surgeon at the Hospital Schestakow (2001-2004), a specialist in retinopathy of prematurity at the Hospital Fleming (2002-2004) and an on-duty ophthalmologist at the Humberto Notti Paediatric Hospital. He has worked in this last position since 2003 and combines it with working at the Hospital Central in Mendoza, where he has been an assistant in the vitreoretinal department since 2006. He also works in the private sector for Centrovisión Mendosa S. A.
